LEADING THE WAY
THE TORONTO PARTY

The Toronto Party is currently examining all areas of its policy in anticipation of the 2010 municipal election.

In the past, The Toronto Party's economic development committee has advocated for the better management of the city's assets. For example, the more efficient use of lands operated by the TTC. Some of these lands can be converted to multi-uses and thereby create a stream of additional revenue for the city.

It has also questioned why some would support condominium development on our waterfront to replace viable businesses that currently employ hundreds of people and generate an economic benefit for Toronto. The Island Airport is one such use.

The committee has further recommended that the issue of widening sidewalks on Yonge Street to enhance pedestrian traffic be examined. However, in conjunction with the views of the transportation committee, any such widening should not be undertaken without a comprehensive traffic study of the surrounding area.
